'Finally 18'/5 Photos (Client Brief)

For this brief, we had to take 5 pictures to tell a story, In these images, we follow the reflection I had prior to my 18th birthday: struggling between letting go of my inner child and becoming an adult.

This assignment, stirred up a lot of emotions in me, it was a true reflection on how I've grown up with fond memories, and nostalgia about my life so far as a child and teenager.

I took a long time to do a storyboard of the story I wanted to tell because I really wanted the message to be clear and show what it feels like to be torn between two very different universes. This was my first time trying to tell a story without writing so I understand that the final result is a first shot at storytelling but overall, the process went well and I feel like I got my message across pretty clearly.

I was once again, limited by my house as a space to do photography: there were times where the lightning was poor, or the setting was not as I imagined it. Furthermore, I think I was quite hesitant and almost shy about this exercise and I didn't let my full potential out. However, I did put in a lot of work for this story as it is meaningful to me. The ending showcases it: I chose to remain myself and not let go of my "childish" side.

To conclude, this assignment was complicated but with corrections through Photoshop things worked out and I'm contempt with the result. However, in the future, I want to learn more about storytelling and not be as hesitant to shoot in public to be even happier with the result.
