Promoting the Kingston Town Centre/Audio (Client Brief)
(you can find the audio above)
For this audio brief, my goal was to create an ad for the Kingston town centre that showcased what you could do there. As the town center is a big and active place so I presented multiple locations to really do justice to it.
Firstly, recording different sounds around London was a quite hectic process with some complications. For example, the quality of some tracks I recorded weren’t good so I had to create some sounds myself like the ‘ding’. I was quite frustrated trying to create good recordings however I did manage to get a few good ones like the café. I did add in some details: creating a fake order coming and people toasting. However, for the cinema, I had to record myself opening a can at home and played the Fox Century theme.
Secondly, 30 seconds wasn't enough to promote such a diverse place: my audio was 34 seconds and I couldn’t make it shorter. But thanks to Final Cut Pro I slightly sped up the track so I could reach the 30 seconds requirement. I actually really like the result because due to the rapid speed of the audio and the cheery tone I used it felt like a real radio ad.
Finally, I added in a song called ‘A Town Called Hometown’ (Fox, T. 2018) as background music. The feeling of comfort coming from the song matched the energy I wanted to share for the town centre.
Overall, this assignment was the last one I did for the client brief and it truly made me realise my love for recording and creating. It took me a few hours to work with Audacity but it was very enjoyable.
