New Friend : Animation experiment with Helen
You can find the animation below this is just a picture of my new friend, Helen who worked on this assignment with me !
For this assignment, me and Helen had to come up with a story together to create an animation. Here, a ghost, Spooky, is stuck in a pile and is saved by a knightly bear, Milky, this adventure creates a bond between them and they ultimately leave together as friends.
I came up with the idea of the ghost while thinking about the animation I had planned for the final client brief, it was a way to try that idea out and it really sold it for me. We only had about 10 to 15 seconds so we had to take quite a lot of pictures but we managed to make it last 13 seconds.
Overall, I had a lot of fun with this exercise, we laughed through the struggles of our set falling apart but afterall we managed to pull through and complete our animation.
We struggled making pictures with a continuity because we were not able to create a solid background. The 2 paper sheets we used kept falling, and, we had nothing to really make our characters stand except tape. We used a tissue for the ghost and Helen's keychain for the bear.
We decided to use the Stop Motion Application as its a really intuitive and easy to use application. Dividing the work, Helen and I decided I would hold the camera to take pictures and Helen would move the characters around and to try hold the background.
We filmed everything under 2 hours in class so, we were not in the best condition for this assignment however, we managed to shoot everything chronologically and we were able to follow our original story without too many problems except the time limit.
To conclude, I really liked this group project and I believed we did a good enough job with the materials we had. But in the future, we will definitely bring appropriate materials to make the process easier.
