In a formative assignment mandatory for our blog, I had to film and edit a one minute long video of my journey to university in a poetic style. I decided to put the quality of the shots first by taking the time to film the clips over multiple days.
At first, I felt confused on how to make my journey to university poetic. However, after watching examples of poetic documentary I was inspired by multiple elements: the forest, books, sunlight and my neigbhour's cat. After this, ideas and filming flowed easily and I felt confident throughout the rest of the assignment.
Filming on the bus proved to be quite challenging. I used my Iphone 8 to film without a tripod, so the camera was quite shaky, fortunately I was still able to capture good quality shots pretty easily.
On my journey to university, a few places stand out to me as being poetic such as the forest. Half of the clips were obvious to me from the beginning. The other ones came quite spontaniously: for example, My neigbour's cat came to say hello when I was going home and I thought it could be a good opening shot. I do have to admit that a few of the clips I used are from my journey back home but I did put effort it to not make it noticable.
Using Premiere Pro was pretty intuitive and the Linkedin learning for it was really helpful in comprehending the basics of it.
Finally, regarding my choice of music was 'Claire de lune' by Debussy as judging by its release date the song should be copyright free. However, this still depends on which version is being performed so I did find a copyright free music website.
To conclude, I had a great time filming and playing around Premiere Pro and in the future, I wish to buy a hand carried tripod to film steadier videos.
